Food Delivery 出前

Outside a soba (buckwheat noodles) restaurant we find tin boxes with wooden handles. These are used for home deliveries. And they are dexterously carried on scooters (if only I had a photo)! Inside you will find piping hot soups and rice dishes. The porcelain bowls are tightly covered with plastic wrap to prevent spills during the trip from the soba kitchen to your front door. After you finish eating, simply place the dishware back in the delivery box and leave it outside your front door. And when you are not looking, the shop will take it away. I always wash the dishes before returning them, but I don’t think it’s expected.
